BMW Ruta 40 Dealer - Medellin
Unbelievable, amazing people. Can't say enough good things about the staff and service here. We were stranded last night with sheared clutch lever 171km north of Medellin in treachorous conditions, rain, thick fog and trucks everywhere on a 10km tailback from an accident. It couldnt have been much worse with the 1150GS crippled on the side of the road and no-one to help. A miracle awaited us though. 7 bikers from the BMW motorbike Club who also were connected with the BMW Ruta 40 turned up at our side after a very long ride themselves and just 'rescued us'. Their youngest rider, rode our bike without clutch the rest of the way in unbelievable conditions with the rest of the group including us on other bikes, ahead and following him..... They put us into a nice hotel where we will stay for 4 nights and are still helping us today. We can never repay these guys enough and it was a double edged sword of our first days in Colombia and the generosity that has been shown to us.
Cheers JulieBunny & Oliver

I can second the good service from Ruta 40. After being ripped of in Miami, USA, Ilost all respect for BMW dealers. But Ruta 40 in Medellin restored that good BMW service reputation for me. Good and provesional service at a reasonable price!

+2 on Mauricio's Ruta 40.
I have been there twice, they did some guarantee and recall work on my US plated bike. They are friendly, and not that expensive. It amazes me everytime that they always give priority in the shop to a passing traveller...
here is their website [ Ruta 40 ]

I can only re-iterate that these guys are the BEST. We are having problems with front brake and rear bearings at present in Chiclayo Peru and there is nowhere to get spares and so we are riding tomorrow 200km to a larger town to wait for parts from the US. We contacted RUTA 40 in Colombia and they were as helpful as always - suggested where to go and what to do - they couldnt help with parts as there are problems shipping from Colombia to Peru but just a great team. We couldnt praise them more.
If anyone knows of a BMW dealer in Peru - we'd love to hear but we dont think there is one. The mechanics we have happened across are very friendly here though - its just the problem with the parts.
Cheers Jules & Oliver

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
