Border trick at Uruguay-Argentina: our experience
Hi everyone,
For whoever it's usefull, here's our experience with using the border near Fray Bentos, Uruguay to get a motorcycle into Argentina with new registration papers (and a new owner). We we're with two couples (old and new owners) so first of all the girls had to get a cab ride to the border. There go the customs office and then catch a ride with someone to Gualeguaychu, the nearest town in Argentina. This was no problem, the first guy we asked gave us a ride.
Then the guys went on the motorcycle and although there's only one office of both Uruguayan and Argentinian customs, it worked fine. First you have two desks where first Uruguayan and then Argentinian customs stamp the passports. Then you have two desks (right next to each other) for vehicles, but it was no problem to give one set of papers on the one desk and another set of papers on the other.
So for us the Fray Bentos border definately worked.
Cheers,
Suzanne
