Bike

Yes. I have been considering everything from 150 cc to 650 cc.
From Japan, India, China and Colombia
Used and new.

And I have made my conclusion what fits me.
For the situation I am in and for the trip I plan.

Thanks

Hi G, did the process work for you to register the bike under your name? what bike did you evetually get? I'm planning to come to Colombia in Feb and buy a bike to travel for 2 -3 months. Any bike recommendations? I'm looking for anything 200 - 300 cc and 3000 - 3500 USD. Thanks!

Bike in Colombia

Yes, I bought a Royal Enfield Himalayan.
There was no problem to get it registred in my name.
And I can travel wherever I want.

Since it is Colombian, there is no Temporary permit in Colombia that expires.
I used it for a 5 month tour in SA.
Left it for 9 months. And now I am using it for a second trip.
I pay yearly SOAT for Colombia and tax.
No mecanical inspection, since it is new.

The RE fits me perfecr. But a new one is around 4 000 USD.

About bikes. I posted some infon in another thread.
Search and find.

I have got a friend in Colombia. That works as a motorcycle mecanics. But can also help with buying and selling process. If you do not buy direct from a dealer, that do all work.

He is in Cali.
If you want his contact, send me a PM

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
