Buying NEW bike in Santiago
Hi there,
I know there is extensive information about how to go about buying and registering a used bike in chile, but does anyone know if this is the same for a NEW bike. I´ve got my eye on something on chileautos.cl but it has not been registered before. I have the rut number already. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

I read of someone doing it recently, can't remember what to search for so you can find it unfortunately but it's possible, probably much easier as well.

Seems to be cake
Ruthie -- I'm in mid-process, having ordered two bikes at a dealer in Santiago. I am new here, so won't pretend to know the full process. But the Dealer assures me that with the RUT, he will be happy to register the bikes for a modest charge, including the mandatory SOAT insurance (which we were unable to get last time we passed through, for lack of a RUT and an address). So I'm anticipating it is not a difficult chore, with the application of a bit of cash and the dealer's expertise.
On a recent journey, we ran into two young irish lasses in Ecuador who had done the same - bought in Santiago and ridden the southern cone. They did return to Santiago to sell the bikes. not quite sure why...
