Camilo Delgado, Medellin, Colombia
I was saddened to learn of the death of Camilo Delgado, of Medellin, Colombia, and extend condolences to his family, friends, and the Medellin moto community. Camilo, 38, died in a motorcycle accident on Friday, July 22, while participating in a truck/moto rally called Rally de la Guajira.
Camilo posted offers of assistance to moto travelers on the HUBB and was a founder of Ruta 40, www.ruta40.com.co, an excellent parts, gear, and moto adventure store in Medellin. It was so named for Camilo’s ride on Argentina’s Ruta 40 to Ushuaia several years earlier.
I met Camilo in November 2004 in Medellin, first during a ride and later at his store. I was riding south with three others, and Camilo went out of his way to assist us, as he had for other overland riders.
Camilo was characteristic of the exceptional hospitality we received over one week from the Medellin moto community, in particular Carlos Gomez and Gustavo of the Medellin Moto Club and Hector and Carlos of the Moto Angel repairs shop.
A news report (in Spanish) is here: http://www.terra.com.co/deportes/mas...ota236907.html
Thank you Camilo and Godspeed to you.

What sad news.
Camilo put in lots of time assisting me to find a buyer for my bike and then a shipper at the end of my south American trip in Colombia just a few weeks ago. I remember recalling how generous and helpful the Colombians are and I am not alone in receiving such help from Camilo.
A good man is gone. My deepest sympathy to those closest to him.

Kevin and I met Camilo when we did our Trans Americas Guinness World Record back in 2003. His help was invaluable, his hospitality and generousity was second to none. He and other local riders looked after us, guided through the mountain roads, fed us and put us up for the night.
We were both deeply saddened to hear about his loss and send our thoughts and prayers to Wania and his family.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
