Exclamation Can someone else cancel my Uruguayan Temp Import Paper?

hi,

Is it possible for someone else to cancel my temporary import paper from Uruguay, when they leave the country after I have sold the bike to them and they now officially own it?

Has anyone done this before, or know of someone who has?

The idea is, the buyer for my bike is going to depart at the border of Uruguay (say at the ferry at Colonia for Argentina) and hand in my temp import paper and get it signed out of the country.

He will have in his name: a new title, registration, a bill of sale with the 2 passports photocopied with signatures (English and Spanish to satisfy) and some sort of power of attorney/ lawyers document from a notary if needed.

I imagine there must have been multiple instances in Uruguay where the seller could not physically be in the country and the legal documents would have sufficed.

please no speculators on this one,

just those who have some concrete evidence would be much appreciated from myself and future people reading this in the same situation

cheers

Temporary importations are allways made to one person. And this person can only extend it or cancell it(exporting the bike out).
Just to avoid what you suggest.......selling.

Storage in Uruguay

It sounds like you have been storing your bike in Uruguay? Argentina will no longer issue me a TVIP for an 8 months duration so Im looking for someone that can give a reference for a storage facility in Uruguay I can use to store my bike.

Mr Steam Turbine,

I recommend using Kevin, he's also a nice guy and easily contactable.

cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
