contact details for ricardo rocco in quito
hello to all,
well i,m in panama finally and heading to quito equador. I am riding solo on a r100gs pd down to buenos aires end of march, so quite quick. I am intersted in finding out how to contact ricardo rocco for the customs process as i don,t think i want to hang around an airport too long, well who does. If anyone can help that would be great. I have already sent a message through communities to equador. i have decided to skip columbia at this point, due to flights and extra miles and so forth, and not knowing the customs process there. Atleast at the borders you have your bike, its not locked up that always scares me...... safe travelling to all.....

hi,
I shipped from panama to quito last december and ricardo recommended to use Bertha Ibarra as a customs broker.
her office is rght in front of the customs at the end of the street(dead end) right next to the airport.
beware you have to pay for the paperwork, storage and about 50US$ for the broker.don't try to do it on your one, you might end up paying up to 150US$ for customs as happed to another traveller I now.
the whole proces takes anywhere between six hours and three days.
good luck,
Mark

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
