Thanks man!........Im in Argentina now and had an even bigger problem......Got stamped in and out of Chile at Paso de Jama. Argentine customs share the desks with Chile, same building for both. This is a new thing, as Chile services used to be back at San Pedro de Atacama. They are in both places now..
Argentina stamped my passport, but would not let me bring the bike in. They did not accept that I cought the bike in Colombia because it is a Bolivian bike. I couldnt believe it. I spent the night at the border, and then did my second illegal crossing through a slat flat in 2 days. I made it all the way to Salta, but I am feeling pretty tentative every time I see a cop...
I think Ill at least get SOAT, and if I get pulled over, Ill at least have my passport and SOAT ready, and hope they dont ask to see my aduana papers. Other than that, I have a friend in Mendoza where Im headed who works in the motorcycle touring industry, and Ill see if he can find a way to help me out somehow. Ive been told since that the aduana in Argentina - it just depends on who you get. Apparently I got the wrong guy.
