Hi, I hope this will result in some sort of small miracle for me - got to have hope right?
Am in Barranquilla and have some piston related issues. White smoke bellows from the exhaust, sometimes when starting the bike and revving in neutral but mostly when engine-braking during deceleration from higher speeds.
I will get the exact problem identified tomorrow at a mechanic (Rivera Motors) but the general opinion goes like this:
1. Need to replace the piston rings, also replace the valve guides.
2. If unlucky also need to re-bore cylinder, requiring new oversized piston and rings.
I can find the standard size piston and ring replacements here in Colombia, as well as vlave guides.
I cannot find the oversized 0.25mm piston rings.
Ordering with Honda would entail a 30-45+ day wait.
STANDARD PISTON:
PISTON RINGS (13011-MCG-000)
PISTON (13101-MCG-000)
Piston clips (90601-KA5-000)
Piston Pin (13111-KCY-670)
PISTON KIT STD (13101-MCG-000K)
As far as I can find, all information points to these parts being the same as those for the XR400. However part numbers will differ with Honda.
Any advice or help you would offer would be much appreciated!
Regards,
K+E
