From Venezuela to Brasil at Sta Helena
Why don´t they get their act straight? You arrive at the border, 15km out of town, only to be told that DIEX (immigration) is in town TODAY. So you go back to town, find DIEX (at the first gas station, go up the hill, there they are), get your exit stamp, and ride back to border.Goto aduana, and clear bike. No problem.
Ride over to the Brasilians. Get your yellow fever document checked (keep yours up-to-date, or they fast forward you with a reusable ballpoint pen). Get your stamp in your passport. You can ask for 90 days (of course you have a visa). Over to Fazenda. They take all your documents and type out four pages of a Simplified Importation Form (I wonder how thick a complicated importation form is?). The whole thing takes about one hour, no charge, no question about insurance, etc. very civilized. I love those Brazilians!
