Heidys In Northern Chile Or Argentina
Afternoon all
Greetings from Arequipa, just looking ahead at rear rubber, would like to put on another 150/70 -18 Heidenau as we have had a great run with these and they suit our level of riding.
So Northern Chile or Argentina? .... Lima in Peru is an option we know of but we may head a little south for the soggy season then woft back up.
Those in the know....

www.perumotos.com in Arequipa can sell you a tire that size but it will be whatever they have on the shelf. There is a good dealer in Santiago for BMW and several independent shops. Selection is poor in Argentina and assuming an official exchange rate you will pay more. Yamaha makes bikes that fit that tire. We got one at their dealer in Antofagasta Chile a bit more than a year ago but they did not have Heidis in stock. Dave

Heidenau is not available in Argentina, so it has to be Chile.

Santiago is your best bet, or maybe Cochabamba in Bolivia.
What I did on a recent RTW was contact Heidenhau direct.

Rolf sorted us out with a man who could deliver (in Russia, so I suspect he will know one here as well)

Hi Andi
If you can find the right size in Santiago by email or whatever, ask the seller to put them on Turbus cargo to a town up north that you pick that has a Turbus cargo depot. Then pick them up from the Turbus Cargo depot in said town. Fit them. Keep riding. etc.
I did something similar to move a tyre from Santiago to where I picked it up in Calama.
Good luck

I sent an email to Hiedenau a week ago however I have not received a reply. If I get a lead on any tires I'll post it here.

Chile has several options actually, Santiago is where we got sorted, heading into Chile shortly so tire will be spent by Santiago.
Also you can get them in Bolovia too, I emailed the guy but had no response although I now of others who have got them.
Where are you now Rigby?

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
