Help/consult needed in Cali

Hi I'm a 2,05m/6'8 ft guy studying in Cali for one year and I'd love to buy a motorbike and travel this beautiful country. I got two problems right there: My hight and that I have hardly any knowledge of motorbikes yet.
Therefore I'd really appreciate isif someone who's here in Cali could come with me when I have a look at a bike or if you know someone selling a nice bike fitting or a tall guy to give me a call
Thanks a lot in advance!!

You can reach me on my local number (+573235815576) , whatsapp (+4915153711036) , or mail (simon.sichert@live.de).

Looking forward to hearing from you guys!
Simon

I would suggest the ATK (or AKT) 250 It is the bike known in the US as a CC250 and elsewhere as a Minsk 250 and some other names It is tall enough that a giant like you won't look too much like a cartoon character. Powerful enough to move you and some luggage at a reasonable pace Not too expensive and supposedly somewhat reliable for a Chinese bike They cost about $2000 in Colombia

Hi Simon,

Have a chat with Jorge (old timer Spanish mechanic and tourer) who owns Motoservicio Asturias in Cali. He services mainly modern BMWs and Harley's. I saw some BMW F650s in his shop - probably for servicing rather than sale, but he might have one. If not I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction. I learned on a BMW F650 - easy on and off road. The F650 Dakar is higher than the standard 650.

Avenida 6AN # 24AN-50 (cross street is somewhere around Calle 25 +/-)
Telephone 660 6038

Cheers,

Bob

@Luckro:
Thanks I'll be back in Cali next week and a local contact is gold! I'll check it out once I'm back

@VicMitch:
I took your advice and had a look at one in Cali (price: 2'560 USD but basicly new) I'm in Bogotá for the next days and will check out some bikes here with a friend but if there is no better I'm gonna buy it

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
