Michael, you probably already know this but....lots of riders have used Sandra at Dakar Motos for shipping stuff. She'll give free advice or handle it for you--reliably and at reasonable cost. If you're in B.A., check them out.
Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. It sounds like there have been some changes recently. If the path home brings you through my neighborhood, be sure and give a shout.
best,
Mark

We actually are finishing our short holidays and coming back to work tomorrow.
Sorry but looks that the auto-response we left on our email doesn’t work as properly as we expected…
Regards
Javier & Sandra

Hmmm. Only now do I notice that I unwittingly hijacked Gaston's thread. My apologies.

I was starting to get paranoid :-) The phone wasn't answered and an SMS (via Skype) failed :-)
Let me know if I need to resend the email please.

Recommendation for Gaston/SAxplorer
If anyone is thinking of using Gaston's services to help you out with shipping in and out of South America/United States I can highly recommend him.
I recently flew the DR 650 by from Barranquilla, Colombia to Miami - not a common route for a tourist motorcycle, it proved to be fairly difficult and I speak some Spanish. Gaston was quick, thorough and reliable, working with several sea and air freight agents in Barranquilla and Cartagena to help me get to Miami as cheaply and as quickly as possible. He ferried me around Miami when I arrived and helped me pick up the crated bike.
Gaston also ships vehicles, quads and boats in and out of SAmerica/USA and knows the continents and the paperwork well.
He is a top bloke, an overlander helping out other overlanders.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
