How to get Thrird Party Insurance for Bolivia
Hi all,
My girlfriend and I are traveling with a Chilean car and are entering Bolivia soon, we have great difficulty figuring out how to get a valid third party car insurance for Bolivia. Anyone who can help us with this?
Thanks in advance,
Richard and Julia from Arica, Chile

You don't say where you are in Chile, but just go to a Fallbella store and buy it there.
Or if near Los Andes, the road to Argentina is littered with places to buy it.
If north, you will find it in Iqique or Arica. Just ask at a hostel.
They will sell you an insurance that covers Argentina, Peru, Chile and Bolivia (Merco Sur)

Thanks guys, we have managed to buy a Mercosur insurance in Arica (6 months for 69.000 pesos), which should be enough to cover us for Bolivia and Peru! Crossing into Bolivia on Sunday, excited!

Is the car in your name ?
If not getting into Peru may be a bit difficult due to their strict import laws. (Named owner *must* be with vehicle at border).

Does anyone know where I can buy third party (liability) insurance in Bolivia (for Mercosur countries)? We are currently in Sucre and yes we managed to cross the border without this insurance. We will likely visit a number of other cities in Bolivia if we manage to get out temporary import permit extended by Bolivian Aduana next week. Thanks

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
