KLR-Mechanic in Mendoza/Argentinia?
On our way down we will be in 2 or 3 weeks in Mendoza. And we think it should be a good place to service the bikes. Does anybody know a good mechanic for KLRs 650 in Mendoza. One, who maybe has the shims to adjust the valves and can service our "Progressive" Shocks?
Take care!

It sounds like this guy is your man:
"there is a guy called Ariel Rodriguez in Las Heras, 2km north of the centre of Mendoza, Argentina, who can repair whatever you need repaired. welds tanks, straightens and welds chassis, mechanical work, whatever you need and what he doesn't do himself he has contacts for.

or ask for him by name at top moto, they sent me there and i left with a list of stuff done."
You can find more information about bike repair shops in South America in the sub-forum that they have for it here.

I do not know, I remember this recommendation from the South America repair shops section. You should call him on Skype and find out if he can speak English.

Arial...fantastic mechanic in Mendoza, Argentina
Many thanks for the recommendation.
Arial did the best welding that I have seen....like a robot! Also spotted a few other problems that we sorted, so I could not have been happier. He has all sorts of bikes that he is entrusted with, so I doubt there is anything he cannot handle. Not much English, but we managed with dictionaries etc.
Not only a grt mechanic, but the warmth and interest in what I was doing was a joy...2 dinners latter and intros to all the family and friends.....great experience all round
Thanks again

Still in Las Heras
Was worried that most of the posts on this thread were quit old and that the information wouldn't be good anymore.
Not to fear the information provided is still correct and I will re-post here just to confirm:
Ariel Rodriguez
Bahia Blanca 625
Las Heras
Mendoza

Ariel is a great guy and an even better mechanic. I had two leaks in my gas tank (KLR650), one on the seam that bolts the tank to the bike. We came to Ariel and he was able to weld both, and they lasted me all the way to Ushuaia, and that includes the rather rough patches of Ruta-40 (couple hundred miles of gravel and rock).
He wanted to make sure the weld would hold and invited us back the next day for lunch and to check his work. Met the family and had epic Asado, not saying that this is a service that will come with all repair jobs.
A note to those that don't speak Spanish. Ariel does not speak English, outside of a couple of catch phrases, so make sure to look up the words for what is wrong with your bike and he will be able to get the picture, or take a dictionary with you.
Hope this helps people. If you need a mechanic and are in the area of this shop, it's the best place around.
