Yeh, buy them long before you need them if you see them available. You've already bypassed Colombia, which is the best place for such things (IMHO). If you find parts available in Ecuador, do it now: what's to lose? You've already spent enough time waiting for repairs. Take a hint and do it differently.
Otherwise, Mendoza (maybe) and B.A. (probably). Peru has surprisingly good parts availability, although I sure didn't need any sprockets there. Conceivably Santiago. But don't count on anything, anywhere, no matter what you hear.
