Language course
Hi all,
Can anybody recommend a Latin American Spanish language course..?
I'm thinking book+cd rom type of thing. We're heading to South America in a few months so better get started..!
I'm in the UK if it makes a difference.
Muchas gracias...

I don't see why you need "Latin American" Spanish....
Simply enrole on a Spanish course at a local evening class.
The differences between Iberian Spanish and Latin American Spanish are on a par with the differences between American and British English: they're there but really not major...

Hi man
What a coincidence! I´m trying to improve my English and you can help me while I can help you. Search my skype address utilizing my mail direction : raumadrid@yahoo.com.ar or write me, of course, in Spanish :confused1:
Greetings...
Raul

I'm using Pimsleur Spanish. I'm only on the 8th lesson, but it keeps my interest and motivation. I've been working on it for several months - I learn slow. It's totally audio at the level I'm at. My current lesson is teaching me the words to order a ! I do the 30 minute lesson each night, which is the discipline required. I'm still enthusiastic about it, so that's a recommendation. I spend a week or two on each lesson, learn it well, then move to the next lesson.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.
Warthog, as we're going to Latin America it seemed appropriate to get a "Latin American" course. I've been on a basic course at a local college but I'm a bit rusty and we'll be gone before the next class starts.
Raul, thanks for the offer, I don't do skype but I may mail you when I've improved a bit more..!
LD, thanks, I'll check out Pimsleur.
Thanks again.

pimsleur
you can get it on pirate bay
a good way to get used to spanish is get a copy of a good, simple movie that you like in English...watch it in subtitles a few times, then switch to spanish with english subtitles.....watch it often, and i mean often

It's your call, after all, but Latin Spanish like American English is only slightly lexically different in a few places: I just think you may be narrowing your options down unecessarily.
Either way just communicating with natives such as Raul is a great way to go, especially once you start learning the basicas and want to put it into practice.

Get the Pimsluer Spanish I,II & III. It's easy to find thru torrents or licenced copies are available for about $500. The best thing is thats it's passive. You can listen while riding (if on straight traffic less non techenical roads ) or driving or vacuuming. If you go thru these 90 30min lessons, you will be able to converse, but not quite be conversational.
