Lost all my papers in Peru. Please Help
Hi,
I have a huge problem. 5 Days ago i lost on a bumpy ride between Maras and Muray in Peru my bagpack with ALL my documents, wich was strapped to the reare of my bike. I realised it about 15 min later and went back twice the same way but i found nothing. It is countryside so i ask lokals, talked to the police and the priest of the lokal church to call me if they found something but till now nothing. Luckily i have a second passport where i can get the entrance stampfor peru. My kreditcard and my drivinglicence will be sent next week to Cusco.
The main problem are the documents of my Chilenien bike.
Does someone know how to get them without flying to Santiago de Chile?
I tried to write the shop where i bought the bike to give me some support but no response till now.
How is the procedure to get the importdocumnts to Peru again?
THX for any help.
Greetings
Martin
PS: No, i dont have copys of the papers from the bike. Todaly forgott about that. Stupid me.

I'd say you are going to have to front up at the Aduana and see if they can help.
If you stay at the Quinta Lala campground in Cusco, Milli, the manager, is on good terms with some of the Aduana officials in Cusco (because she helps us get permission to leave our vehicles in Peru) so she might be able to help you by going in to the office with you.
A copy of the original TIP should be easily available to the Cusco Aduana and once that is re-issued, the rest should be easy.
Cmpground isn't a bad place to spend a few days anyway while you sort out getting your title papers reissued. I guess if you can't get them, you will have to take a bus to Chile to get them
Next time have them scanned or take a photograph and email them to yourself so you can always retrieve them anywhere

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
