Need advice on moto papers in Peru
Hello:
I am from USA. Owned two motos in Chile for several years and just flew there once a year for vacations. It was great. Had to get a RUT which is a USA equivilent of a social security card that was used in the purchase of the moto. The RUT is used primarily as a means of paying the sales tax and license tax. Once I had the RUT I got bike in my name and crossed in and out of Chile and border countries with no problem.
The bikes in Chile are worn out and sold. I am now in the process of buying a bike in Peru...doing this "remotely" from home. I have a new bike located thanks to Lima community contacts. Now I'm looking for someone who has done the same thing so I know what type of paperwork I need to do in Peru.
I suspect I might get comments such as "don't worry about it" etc, but I had the same advice for Chile which would not have worked.
If you have purchased a moto(as a foreigner) in Peru and have permanant title/papers, please describe the process you used to get those papers.
Thanks for your help!!!
