I would love to run a vineyard in the Mendoza region and supplement it with a travellers hostel/campsite.The wine from this region and Argentina generally is becoming forever popular here in UK.I am hooked on it !
My second choice would be Colombia, as i think it will gradually lose that media hyped reputation and the good points will out weigh the bad by far.
It would be great to live amongst the most friendliest people i have met from these two countries.
You can study wine making at college nowdays.Although Spanish lessons would have to be a definate first for me !

Sohrakoff,
I just figure that there are so many opportunities in Uyuni, and provided you get you place sorted and heated and comfortable in a reasonable amount of time living there might not be so bad.
I guess the fact that the place is a dump would probably focus your attention to make it tolerable.....

Hey El Aleman,
here is also a traveller on the road - right now in Buenos Aires after having spent the last year coming down from Alaska... ;-)
I pretty much liked Colombia, and i pretty much like the idea of what you want to do....
Give me a mail - so we can start discussing.....

I think it's a great idea, and you're right, the location is everything. I reckon Buenos Aires or Panama City would be favourites, with Mancora, Peru and Sucre, Bolivia, runners uppers. If I had the capital, I'd do it myself...

Fischeor...is this the same German dude (Oli) that offered me a bottle of tequila to cure my illness in Oaxaca City? Your Mother bought it as I recall. I'm in Paraguay right now. Hope to see you before I head to Africa. I'll be in Bueonos Aires in less than a week, heading south via Brasil. What are your travel plans now?

Hey Oli, the tequila was delicious! I shared the bottle with a nice South African fellow in San Cristobal. As you may recall, I was in very bad shape and unable to keep even water down at the time. You and your Ma really lifted my spirits with your visit to my hotel...email on the way, see you in BA! Dave.

Fischeor, I think I met you and your mother when you were booking a hotel in Playa del Carmen on first ave. last Nov. i was riding a bicycle and stopped to talk. You were saying that your mom was riding with you since Mexico City.
Hook/Dave, I am the guy who rode with yourself and Mike into Batopilas. Talk about a good deal on a hotel, the place we stayed in that night was hard to beat! Do you happwen to have a copy of the team picture we took at the church on the other side of Batopilas? Glad to hear all is well! Brian

I'll be darned! Talk about a small world- made more so by the internet and this website! Yes, Brian, I have a pic of the 3 of us- several in fact. I'll send them to you. Did you know Mike had an accident the day we parted? Amazing to think you met Oli in Mexico after I stopped you on the street to say "hi" in Creel- and Oli stopped to say "hi" to me in San Cristobal. How did everything work out in southern Mexico with the property purchase, etc? Message or email me- I hope to see you out there!

Oli, you met me when I was down and hurting. I can't wait to show you what the kid can do when he's up and running! (By the way, Barrio Norte and Recoletta are very fun too...as well the center). See you in BA! H.

After 7 years we need a new challenge and are thinking of selling our good running pousada in Bombinhas-Santa Catarina, Brasil (coast)
Have a look at www.pousadaolandes.com
We managed to have a good living from the income of the summermonths, never exploited the low season(april-november) as we prefer to travel during these months.
If you want any further information you can contact me (Marcel Kersten) at:

Hi,
I`m in Sucre at the minute and apparently the instiution that is the Joyride Cafe is up for sale. Not quite a hotel, but an already up and running business, that seems to do very well for it self. And after the suggestions for Uyuni, Sucre is a relative paradise!
Hi Marcel. It`s Mike here, and i met you on the Carraterra Austral a couple of months ago. Hopefully i can take up your offer of staying at your hostel before you sell it, as i don`t think i will make it down to south brasil as quickly as i thought. Now i have found some warmer weather i have taken to the mañana attitude quite well.
cheers
Mike

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
