whoa cowboys - see my response your other thread..
I just noticed you have 2 threads going.
One answer is to have the original European title reissued in your name and the in the name of the previous owner. (co- owners) When you arrive Argentina with the new title that now includes your name,as well as the name of the original owner who entered Argentina, have the Temporary Vehicle Import Permit renewed.
IMPERATIVE THAT THE LICENSE PLATE IS THE SAME PLATE THAT THE ORIGINAL TEMPORARY VEHICLE PERMIT WAS ISSUED FOR...
I have done this successfully. The fine was more than $500.00 US.
You will pay a substantial fine, but I have an Argentine Jestor (one who registers and transfers titles as a business) who can help you do it legally. Her fee will be minimal.
You will then have up to 8 months to tour Argentina and, once the renewal gets into the computers, you should have no problem exiting the country. I have no idea of the DOWN TIME between renewal and the time the renewal info will be available at the borders.
You will be issued immediately, a new Temporary Vehicle Import Permit, and that should suffice for any police checks and might even be accepted at the border. xfiltrate
