paraguay (asuncion to Alberdí)
Hey folks, I'm looking to travel from Foz do Iguaçu to Formosa, Argentina via Paraguay. Probably going to turn south around Asuncion. Here are my questions:
1-Is the road from Asuncion to Alberdí paved?
2-Once I get to Alberdí, is there a ferry, etc to cross into Argentina?
If there´s no ferry, what is Ruta 11 like in Argentina from Asuncion to Formosa? (road condition, gas sations, etc)
Cheers,
Dave

Import paperwork
Does anybody have any up-to-date info on the import documents for Paraguay? We crossed the border from Argentina via Brasil today, stamped our passports but gave no import paperwork for our motorcycles, we insisted we needed something but the top customs guy said there is no such thing and in the end started to get a bit p*ssed with us so we cut and run!!
We're in Ciudad del Este for 48 hours so have time to sort something if anybody has any info.
There's no problem for us if we don't NEED any stamp/docs but we want to avoid problems at checkpoints and when we leave Paraguay in approx one months time.
I've found a few posts where people have gone to another city and managed to get the correct paperwork but it isn't clear if they were asked for it at the exit border or whilst on the road.
Cheers
Pete & Caf

Paperwork in Paraguay
Hey guys,
Of course nobody woudl recomend you to get in any country without the necessary paperwork. Come back to Foz do iguaçu to get the "import papers" at the border with brazil, normally they don't give you but you have to get it to avoid problems inside and when living PY ok.
Give me a shall if you need, I can go with you at the border to get the correct papers, at the moment there are two other bikers here that i'm helping and for sure they can hell p you also

Heads up.
OK everybody, good news
We went to the offices around the back of the immigration today (which Mark recommended, thanks mate), we walked up a hill and at the top is a large 2 storey office building that is the customs offices, open Monday - Friday only.
In the front door and straight up the stairs there is a nice big sign and top of the list is Tiempo de Tramite!
10 mins later we had the temporary import document (he wanted to see ownership papers and IDP and passport).
I would recommend if you cross at Ciudad Del Este just going into imigration to get your passport stamped then ride away from the office, take the FIRST right following the building round and ride up the hill behind the office you have just been in, park up outside (security everywhere) and you'll be sorted straightaway.
Don't even think about trying to get your Tempo docs at the actual crossing point, the main guy's is a fool and unwilling to help, he is quite happy for you to ride off into Paraguay without the correct paperwork and suffer the consequences, nice attitude from an offical!
