Peru motorcycle insurance
I'll soon be crossing from Bolivia to Peru. The current insurance policy I have (which I bought in Argentina) does not cover Peru.
Has anyone up to date experience of buying insurance for Peru (whilst still in Bolivia, at the border or once in Peru).
Many thanks

If you are entering via copocabana, there is an agent in the town just over the border into Peru. Details in ioverlander.
Previously it required running the police gauntlet to Puno, but more recently there were reports of aduana not allowing entry so you had to go and get the policy and then return for your vehicle

We crossed two weeks ago, so the info is quite updated.
In Copacabana there is no vendor and also they will not stamp your TIP if you dont have one. Usually they make people walk or get a mototaxi to the nearest village (Yunguyo).
In Desaguadero, you can buy in the town (also they dont stamp your TIP if you dont have one). Desaguadero is a big town. Look or ask for La Positiva (the name of the insurance company).

The non-stamping TIP because of the insurance, basically depends on the mood of the official. In our case (and lots of other travellers), they were very firm and insisting on having one. But also, some other travelers just made it without having one right at that time (they bought later).
Also, in Desaguadero after crossing the bridge, they will ask for 3 or 4 soles as a Municipal tax. They will also give you a receipt. We asked the police and they said its legit!
Good luck & safe travels ;-)

A quick update to report our experience.
We crossed at Desaguadero yesterday and luckily were not asked about insurance so were able to immediately ride on. I bought insurance 100km down the road at the Yamaha shop in Ilave recommended on IOverlander (GPS Coordinates -16.08313, +69.64606). Lovely lady there did it all in 10 minutes and the cost was 97 Sol (approx $30) for one month.
