Talking Santiago to Buenos Aires

Hello

I have no experience in driving/planning trips in south américa but I have some experience in Africa.

So.... I need some help from this very knowledgeable group! )

Do you thing that it’s possible to fly to Santiago and buy/tent a vehicle (preferable a 4x4) and drive to Buenos Aires? And them sell the vehicle and fly back to Europe? In the other way around it’s also possible...

This is just an recently born idea and is obviously open to changes

If you think that it’s perfectly out of reach (for modest pockets) do you thins that it’s possible to buy/rent a car in Santiago, cross to Argentina and then cam back to Santiago?

Thanks in advance... and yes I know that the questions are verrrry vague )

Buy/sell in Argentina: Trail Blazing to New Horizons

Bernardo, Take a look at my Buy/Sell thread in Argentina this region. If you bought round trip airline Europe to Buenos Aires, bought a bike in Buenos Aires, toured Argentina, which is very big and diverse, and then sold the bike in Argentina you would be fine. My thread will give you all the information you need as a foreign tourist to do this.

If your stay in Argentina is more than 3 months, your bike will be registered here and has no limit on how long it can stay here, but you will have to get an extension on your 3 month tourist visa/ or briefly leave the country for a day and get 3 more months when entering Argentina again.

There is a way for a foreign tourist to buy new or used in Argentina and travel to Chile. I cannot comment on selling the bike in Chile. I believe it would be illegal without paying an import tax in Chile and/or the title transfer process might be prohibited for a foreign tourist. I do not know, but will find out. Keep reading my thread this region. xfiltrate

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
