Foreigner at the mo, maybe local too
I have a local and foreigner interested.
This is what I understand to be the case so far:
Firstly, about making the foreigner own the bike in New Zealand.
Basically I think we can do this all online. As the NZ website allows this. The only tricky thing is you need a NZ drivers license. As foreigners come to NZ and buy cars all the time, I'm sure there is a way around this.
If he is keen to proceed, I could change the ownership now, send it to my mums address. She could scan it and you could have the ownership paper when we meet up.
The other issue is that the bike will have a 90 day visa, if Colombia is the same as the others. That means it is attached to my name. Basically, "I think"we can go to the port at Cartagena and get officials to transfer. As I speak very little Spanish this could be tricky. From my experience and speaking to others, South America is either straight forward or a complex process that ends up with a couple of bribes.
I met some Americans who sold there car in a similar situation. They were in north of peru, met the buyers in lima and it was all ok.
Is this correct?
