Shipping to Europe: Brazil, Uruguay, or Argentina?
I am starting to think about shipping my bike from South America to Europe. Sometime later this year, likely between April and June. I need to decide what country I will leave from.
I see some old posts saying that Brazil is a difficult country to ship a bike from, but so far haven't tracked down the details of why. Does anyone know if it is still difficult? Does anyone know the details? Rio de Janeiro is the most likely location I would leave from.
Argentina is the next obvious location, from Buenos Aires. Except I will have to pay a $160 USD visa reciprocity fee when if I return and also must travel a long ways back south. Is it really that much better leaving from Buenos Aires? (I do not plan on going all the way north to Colombia)
What about Uruguay? I don't see many people leaving from Montevideo....any experience there?
I did look at Grimaldi as an option. They now only load vehicles in Uruguay and the price is a bit high. In US dollars, it would cost almost $4,000 for 21-28 days transit! Yipes! It sounds like fun yet that is significantly higher than any estimate I have so far for air transit of me and my motorcycle.
