Shipping motorcycle parts in Argentina
Hi all,
to make a long story short: my engine is dead and Yamaha in Rio Gallegos has quoted me 1500US$ do rebuild it.
I am thinking buying a used engine for my Super Ténéré (I've found several on e bay!) and have it shipped to Argentina (I have good prices on shipping!), but I am afraid the taxes will make this option unrealistic as well.
Has anyone had some experience in receiving parts in Argentina, and any advice,
Thank you, it would suck to quit this trip 579 kilometers from Ushuaia!!!!!

Yannick
Posible to do,important is to get some help on the values declared.
Remember in argentina you need to pay 52% if they determine you need to do so.Some times don´t.
PM for more details

Hi Yannick,
Sorry to hear about the problems with your bike. We have been following your website from the beginning (great writing!).
Not much advice to offer you other than the following: We met another Québec couple, Jacques and Solange, who successfully shipped used parts into Buenos Aires. As I recall, they did not have to pay the full 52% import duties but only a small amount.
Hopefully others will pipe in with more info.
Good luck!

Gracias!
Thank you Karl and Brian,
sorry for the delay in answering, I gave up on that idea of bringing parts from abroad and I became a hitch-hicker. Very different from travelling on a bike I have to say...
Thanks anyways and see you guys later,
Yannick
