South America eclipse, July 2019

Good day:
There's quite a bit of buzz around the total solar eclipse here in North America on August 21. I'm too far north to see totality, and due to lack of early planning on my part I will not be able to travel to see it.

I did a little Googling, and found that the next two total solar eclipses are on July 2, 2019, and December 14, 2020 - and both of these will cut a path across Chile and Argentina.

I'm thinking that this might make for a great opportunity to fly to South America and do some riding while having a chance to see the eclipse - but what's the weather like for riding in July? I know it's winter then, but is an extended ride doable out of either Santiago or Buenos Aires at that time of the year? (see map)

Well the eclipse date of 2 July 2019 is fast approaching - is anyone planning their journey to coincide with the eclipse in Argentina and Chile?

There is a full list of eclipses this century on Wikipedia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_solar_eclipses_in_the_21st_century

Interesting, thanks for posting.
I'm myself in Trujillo Peru now, might be in the area at the time of the eclipse...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
