Could be challenging and/or expensive to get those parts in. I recently flew into Mendoza with clutch kit, carb parts, and gaskets and was allowed to pass since I had the temporary import permit for my motorcycle in hand. That was apparently enough proof that those parts were not going to be sold, or for use in an Argentine vehicle. I know your situation is different, though, so here's some info from customs (AFIP) as a start.

The first topic says you can bring goods in tax free, up to U$S300 worth, as long as you don't intend to sell them. Also limits that to once a month. States that exceeding that amount will cost you 50% of the excess value.
The second topic says you can't bring in parts for cars and "others".
This response is not definitive. Just food for thought. And it may all depend on which customs agent you draw, and what their day has been like...
Good luck at the race!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
