Visas + other paperwork?
Sorry, I probably could find it if I searched efficiently enough....
What countries require visas (in particular
in advance in UK) if I were to travel out of US through Mexico and Central America and down West Coast of South America?
HU "Country Info" doesn't seem to have it all covered? Or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
Thanks in advance.

In 2000/01/02 I travelled your route on a UK passport and required no visas in advance. if there was one needed, you can get it at the border (i recall that was only for costa rica). just make sure your passport has lots of blank pages. latino border/immigration types love to stamp anything that isn't nailed down.

We have just come through this CA and SA (west coast route) in 2004/2005 and as UK citizens, no visas were required anywhere. Some countries will give you a tourist card on arrival at the border to complete.
Venezuela does have a visa requirement (but it is not west side of SA) and whilst you can get it enroute, we got one in London for our 2003 ride through Venezuela.

Good to hear from you, Kevin (or Julia!).
To be honest, the main inspiration for the trip came from your "Miles Ahead" DVD which I bought last year. Although I like to hit high miles-a-day, you'll be pleased to know I shalln't be going for any records, even if they're no longer officialy recognised!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
