Bike insurance through Central and South America?

Curious if there's insurance that will cover my bike for the whole 6 months vs getting individual insurances in each country? Is it really necessary to get one!? What are your experiences, recommendations?
Also, medical insurance? I'm about to get world nomads as they seem to be the best deal. Anyone has any experience with them? Any other?
Thanks all!

We are with World Nomads for medical and general travel insurance, we did have fun when we had an accident but they came through mostly.

No insurance for bike unless you essentially pay the value of the bike in premiums is what we have found.

Myself and a friend have just gone through this, we used a company through HC travel, here's link. Temporary US Motorcycle Insurance Programme

also here, http://www.motorcycleexpress.com/insurance-products

When you look at it though, don't do individual insurance, if more than two of you are going,we booked through group booking, they class two people minimum for a group and saved £300, cost £950 for the two of us for 6 months. Also had quote for bike insurance through these for 3 months for Canada and USA, £152, but have found out that they will provide insurance for the full 6 months Canada to Ushuaia. Just looking into this though. The countries that the don't include though are Mexico, Belize, Costa rica, Columbia and Nicaragua, if it is cheap enough think it will save a lot of hasstle at borders.

Pete.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
