Free Yellow Fever Vaccine in Buenos Aires
For anyone starting their South America trip in Buenos Aires or are going here before entering yellow fever areas:
Anyone can get this vaccine for free in the Puerto Madero area in Buenos Aires. The clinic is called: "Dirección Nacional de Fronteras" (Border Health, the Ministry of Health), and is located in Calle Ingeniero Huergo 690 (corner Chile), Buenos Aires.
It couldn't have been easier, we were in and out in 10 minutes. You just give them your passport, wait a few minutes, you then get called in to see the nurse, quick jab in the arm and they give you a vaccination certificate and send you on your way. It is very important that you hold on to this certificate as you will probably need to show it later on in your trip.
They are open Monday to Friday 10:00 - 15:00 and their phone no is: 4343-1190, although they only speak Spanish. You don't need to make an appointment, just show up and don't forget your passport.
Very easy and we are certainly glad we found out about this place as we saved the 60 pound x2 it would have cost us in the U.K. Just be prepared that you might feel a bit under the weather the week following the vaccination. It is a quite normal reaction to this vaccine.
