Malarone
Does anyone know a good/cheapest! place to buy Malarone legitimately? it is so expensive in the places i have tried, over £300 for 3 months supply... i dont remember it being that much the last time i bought it. Any tips appreciated, thanks.

Don't know about Malarone but have a friend in Dubai who gets my Lariam for me cheaply there ... if you have a contact in Dubai you might be able to source it that way!

Malaria Tablets
If you're wanting to save cash, don't use Malaron. It is a great product as you only have to take it 1 day before you enter the Malaria region and only 4 or 5 (can't quite remember) days once you leave.
The other brands are just as effective but some need to be taken for 2 weeks before you go and 1 month after your return, so if your dates are set in stone and you can be dedicated enough to pop the pill for 1 month after you get back, go for one of the older brands.
Malaron is expensive just because it makes life a little easier!! ....
Other brands are just as effective and half the cost..........

Think about doxycycline. Its' drawbacks are having to take it for 4 weeks after leaving, photosensitivity (over-rated since you only have to take it with supper, before dusk) and yeast in females but it's dirt cheap. I stay away from Lariam for prophylaxis since it's expensive and its' side-effects have a 47 days half-life. IOW side-effects of Lariam can last up to 3-4 months! Which include dizziness, vertigo, disorientation, hallucinations, loss of short term memory and cardiac arrhythmias. Most of which I had after ~9-10 doses in S. Africa.
Lariam is a great drug to treat acute malaria. 1 gram = 4 tablets and you're done.
My patients can buy any reasonable amount of doxycycline for ~$10, even here in the US.

If you are going to use malarone, buy it from a reputable source; fake drugs are rife in the third world and cost many people their lives. I suggest getting a prescription from a doctor who can also advise you on the most appropriate drug and paying the cost at a UK chemist like Boots. Yes, it costs, but it's a pretty important purchase. Cheaper drugs may be appropriate but again, buy from a reputable source.

You need to start malarone two days before you enter the malarious area and for one week after leaving.

The mainstay of avoiding insect spread diseases is to avoid getting bitten - repellent, long sleeves and mossie nets, impregnated clothes (with permethrin or similar).

If you want/need it buy it wherever you CAN get it. I thought like you and ended up having it posted in. It's not available in the UAE, Oman or Yemen (where I needed it to treat M. tropica). It's a patent medicine, so the price is the same no matter where you buy it.

I use Malarone almost exclusively now, following two cases of acute malaria in a span of 6 years while taking mefloquine (Larium). I've got 24 branded & stamped Malarone tablets left over from my trip. (3 weeks worth )

About £100 quids worth I think.. You shouldnt take them for more than 28 days anyway, so I hear... (Its not licienced for that so any travel insurance could get funny if they really wanted to. Cant see it happening though...)

make me an offer if your interested...

for all the info and suggestions. Wanted to stick with Malarone as i have tried larium before and it didnt seem to agree with me particulary well, i hate taking anti malarial stuff as it is all pretty strong meds, but Malarone seems the best one for me, i obviously have inheritantly expensive taste... unfortunately! Anyway, yesterday sourced some Malarone through a friend who knows a doctor, still cost £200 for 3 months supply! but saved me some at least.
