Bike Storage East Coast
I'm going solo next year round Africa, I leave in Jan from the UK. Down west and up east coast to Jeddah and through Saudi to home via Turkey and Europe.
In Aug my best mate is having a wedding in Poland so as I've known him for nearly 20 years I've said I'll fly back for it.
Anyone got an suggestions of good places I can leave the bike on the East Coast of Africa? I'll probably be around Mozambique, Malawi or Tanzania when Aug comes. I'll probably be out of the continent for about 2 weeks. I'm sufficiently early in the planning so I can aim to be somewhere specific at a certain time.
Obviously somewhere that isn't going to bankrupt me getting to the wedding (cheap flights to europe) will be a bonus as will somewhere that is safe - I was thinking a bike shop or similar. Throw them some coins in exchange for keeping it out back?
Ideas gratefully received.

Hi Sockpuppet,
I can offer storage in South Africa in Port Shepstone. 10 Euro per month for normal bikes 15 Euro for BMW Boxer bikes.
Just build a storage garage in my garden. And park already two german bikes which a permanet based here in RSA.
To get a cheap flight up to europe should be easyer from RSA than from Moz or Tan.
regards
Thomas

Jungle Junction in Nairobi
Hi, I would suggest JJ's as it's easy to fly out of Nairobi.

Hey SP,
The storage issue for such a short period of time shouldn't be much of an issue, with a little bit of looking around you should be able to find a decent hotel/guesthouse that caters to travellers and they are usually only too happy to store bikes for a small fee, sometimes free.
Very easy to do in Dar Es Salam where almost everyone leaves their bikes at one of the overlander camping spots while they head over to Zanzibar.
But for flights, the most options and hence usually the best prices are to fly in and out of the main hub cities. Nairobi is one and of course South Africa, either Jo'berg or Cape Town. I'd do a quick travelocity search of flights to your destination city to get a sense of which one has the best prices and go from there. JJ's is Jungle Junction, most overlanders stop there and he stores a lot of trucks and bikes for people. Have a good ride

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
