I don't know about consulates I'm afraid but I have good info on ferries which may put your mind at rest. You can get boats from Point noire to Soyo which are cargo vessels run by Panalpina. They can take 4x4s no problem and that means if you have reason to think there may be a problem with boats from Cabinda you can take this option.

If you are heading south through the region why not get a DRC visa in Yaoundi in Cameroon rather than waiting for Cabinda so you have all bases covered. Hope that helps a bit anyway.

Congo visas

If you are coming from the North you can get visas for both Congos in Yaaunde, Cameroon. We got visas there early June 2006 (Swedish & Brazilian Passports). Next day service CFA50,000. An additional CFA5,000 gets you same day service. Both embassies quite accommodating. Good Luck. Hansthebiker.

Thank you Lee5500 for the news about the cargo vessels from Pont Noire to Soyo.I made some research on Internet but I was unable to find info on schedule price and conditions. We will travel next autumn like on foot passenger,do you think they will accept us on board without car/bike?Do you have any idea of cost?I read on the HUBB that the price for the ferry Cabinda-Luanda was in 2005 for passenger 60 Dollar after bargaining.
We will definitevly miss RDC both to avoid another expensive visa and because I reckon that after the general election there will be unrest also on the area around Matadi on Bas Congo.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
