In Kinshasa waiting for barge to Kisangani
Hi folks.
I have arrived yesterday in Kinshasa and currently searching for a barge or boat to Kisangani. Anybody valuable advice or also in town to team up for the trip ? Just about to go to the docks, keep you updated about news. Will put my 1975 Vespa 125cc Scooter on the boat and intending to cross into Rwanda afterwards .
greetings from Kinshasa

Barge
Hi Chris-
I'm wanting to take the Congo barge this July. Please let me know what you find out about it. I also plan to hang in Kinshasa for awhile- while waiting for the boat. I'll be doing some volunteer work. Any Kinshasa tips- especially cheap sleeping- would be greatly appreciated. I'll be traveling alone, but would love to find a companion.
Thanks so much and good luck!
Jennifer

Probably leaving monday, let go a ONATRA barge yesterday cos the other one seems more confortable and safe. Will write a report afterwards and post it here. Price they told me was 150 Dollar for me, Vespa and luggage but see what I can discuss with them. Trip is going to take 3-4 weeks, just bought all supplys yesterday, going to camp on the pusher boat.
greetings from Kinshasa

Wow Chris, sounds amazing, keep us posted. Would love to see some pics of the Vespa "fully loaded"
Jennifer, we stayed at the St Annes Catholic Mission in Kinshasa, close to the La Beach ferry port. Lots of NGO/Volunteer types were there too. It's a bit expensive for a long term stay but it's got everything you need and is a good base to familiarise yourself with Kinshasa.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
