Bissau and Guinea Conakry
Hi all, we recently went to Guinea Bissau and it is fair to say it was one of our favorites, friendly people, cheap and police are pretty good...
-Orango islands we jumped on a public boat on saturday morning from the peir in the middle of town, one day to babaque and the next day to orangos. It is an awesome experience and everyone is chilled, you can laz around the boat and drink s, read and nap. You will be sharing with pigs , goats and motorbikes.
Once on orango the hippos are a bit dear but worth it.
- we went to the chimp reserve at beli, the drive in is awesome from Gabu and the road is good until after the local barge crossing (3000cfa). It is rough but it is real africa. At beli there is a chilled lodge and some dutch volunteers who will help u out. Lodge is (4000cfa for a hut), food (2000cfa) chimps are everywhere but hard to spot. Best to call before and they will track in the afternoon. Awesome experience and friendly village.
We crossed the border via munhini then the track down to Wendou M'Bour.
Police stamped carnet and passport in beli ( Capt Telebimann) for free and on the otherside having crossed illegally just say you are going to see the captain. The army boys in Din Dong and before will try get a bribe but be patient and say u will change money in wendou. There see the captain and he will stamp your stuff for free. Easier than I thought.
Road to Boke is fuked from there ~3-4 hours and after boke it is a dream. We did the run in a day. Beli to conakry. Road from conakry to freetown takes a while so leave early
