Hi, the clutch on my BMW 800GS is a little fried and now slipping like crazy, and getting worse and worse each day... i am going to get some new clutch plates sent to Windhoek to meet me there, but does anyone know a good clean modernish bike repair place in Windhoek or very close to who can carry out the work and a few other repairs needed for me??
Many thanks

There is a BMW (and Kawa) workshop in Windhoek, the BMW-car shop is easier to find and they know where it is.
It might be the one listed here: BMW Motorrad South Africa

Hi Guys!
The BMW/Kawa Workshop stopped working in 2006 (or so)
The mechanik from this workshop works now for the BMW in Windhoek(march 2007 hope he is still there not retired)
He's a Namibian/German was quit funny for us;-))
If not and you search for another workshop...there is Altus in Capetown.
He is writing as gsworkshop here on the HU. Very skillfull and helpfull!!
We repaired and cleand our bikes there in 2007.
Greetings from OZ wener+claudia

The clutch is now slipping so much that you can barely reach 10mph... so Cape Town will be a little to far i suspect. Will try the BMW car garage and see if this guy still works there, thanks for that, but if anyone else has any info on bike garages in Windhoek, it would be appreciated, thanks.

Swakopmund?
Hey dude
You could try the KTM dealership in Swakopmund. I think the guys name is Dale. They did some work on my R100GS. The main issue will be the parts, so if you get those you'll be in a pretty good position I would think.
You could chuck the bike on a truck. Its not far. We did it with a passing courier in the Caprivi and it cost us around USD10.
Finally, I am now looking for a job in New Zealand. You are riding around Africa. I'm jealous as hell!

Just to confirm, there is a BMW repair shop in Windhoek, its actually part of the main BMW garage there, Danric Autos, which sells cars and bikes, its not a big repair place located at the back of the main garage. It looks clean and well organised, although they do not hold virtually any spares. Anyway, my bike is booked in for sometime next week so i will post then when the work is done and i can say how good or otherwise they are. Many thanks for your replies guys.
