Poland to SA - need some help
Dear HUBBers,
Quite a lot has changed recently in my professional life and by the 1st of May I may have a lot of free time to waste. Because I have travelled in Africa multiple times (Egypt to SA through the East Coast using public transport) I thought that using a motorcycle this time and using the West Coast route would be a good idea.
For a few hours I have been reading through tons of valuable stuff on this subforum, but I'd like to ask you for a quick reply on some simple things I'm considering.
1. May-July is a wet season in West Africa. Can I handle the roads travelling alone on a reasonably light motorcycle (suzuki dr650se)?
2. Is the route doable in 3 months? (a guy from Warsaw has just posted his trip report a few posts above doing this route in 45 days ;-)
3. What visas should I take care for now (I have 1 month left, so I want to get the hardest ones to get) - I have read about DRC and Angola so far.
4. Provided I will mostly sleep in a tent (in which West-African countries should it be generally avoided?), I know the general African travelling conditions and eat locally, what average daily budget should I assume?
5. Will I do it without a CDP? I have heard it is possible ;-)
I will really appreciate your help!
Best regards!
