East / west or west / east is difficult. The two open routes would be either to head all the way north from Kenya to Egypt, then go Libya, Algeria, Niger, etc. Alternatively head South from Kenya, Tanzania, etc until you get into Angola and then come up the west coast. Going across is harder. The options are to try and get through Sudan but that either means Southern Sudan or Darfur or keep further south and try and cross through Uganda, DRC, CAR. People have done these routes in recent years but they are going to have a significant elemnt of risk, difficult to obtain paperwork, etc. Depends how much of an adventure you want to have. We did it in 2001/2002 but situation was much better in Sudan then so we were able to cross from Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia.
Not sure on your reasons for chosing these particular start and end points. If you have flexibility on these, you would have an easier time starting in SA for example and doing the west coast to West Africa or the East coast up through Kenya. Have fun.
