I've heard some authoritatively-stated rumblings from ex-pats on another forum stating that travel in northern Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire has gotten dangerous due to Islamist activity. This is not something I've heard previously, and I can't confirm what they're saying, but at least one of the sources is not generally prone to scaremongering or exaggeration. I'd take with a grain of salt, while listening carefully for corroborating reports.

Hello, January 2023 I crossed the border between Morocco and Mauritania. No security or other issues. Subsequently I also crossed the border between Mauritania and Senegal in January 2023 and there too no problem. I am available to the forum to answer questions

Hi,
Can you please help with entry requirements to Senegal. Can I enter it by motorcycle w/o CDP ? There is contradicting info on the web, in some places CDP is required, in some others re stated that you can get past avant at the border for up to 10 days.
Planning trip Spain - Dakar - Spain, any recommendations are very welcome

Volunteer Aleksandra Kuligowska was taken on Friday 09/02/2024 from the Saint-Michel hospital run by the Caritas Catholic charity at Dono Manga (some 400 kilometres south-east of the capital N'Djamena). By late Sunday, nobody had claimed the kidnapping ..."

You don't need a CDP to cross into Senegal. If no CDP you'll be given a Passavant and you have between 3 to 5 days to get it extended (for free but you may get asked for a 'fee') at either at St Louis or Dakar.
Cross at the Diamer border as it's smaller and easier.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
