Zim: road conditions Bulawayo to Vic Falls?
Hi guys,
has anybody recently driven the road from Bulawayo to Vic Falls? How is the condition of that road these days, a potholed mess or decent tar?
We are planning a three week trip from Gaborone (Botswana) to Zambia but have driven the road through Botswana so many times that we would like to take an alternative road this time. Unfortunately, now that we're not overlanding anymore but living and working in Botswana time is something to consider (very difficult to get used to) so we don't wanne be driving two days to reach Vic falls...
If you reply, please include how old your info is as Chinese built roads wash away quickly and we got a lot of rain this season.
When we were overlanding through Zim about 4 years ago we got quite a lot of hassle from officials looking for dollars, anybody know how that is these days? Should we expect long discussions at border posts and speed traps with fake readings along the way or are things different now?
I am quite used to the hassle of the kazungula ferry crossing between Botswana and Zambia but have never crossed the border at Vic falls. Is that a similar hassle, coming in with a vehicle?
Any advice appreciated. Safe travels,
Koen
