Bike shuts off
I first posted this in the regular Tech Forum...then I saw this one for Suzuki Tech...sorry for the double post but I need the help.
I have a 2007 DRZ 400S (Suzuki). At 1200 miles while riding the bike shut off. Good fuel...etc. Had 600 mile tuneup done by dealer. 50 miles later going about 65 mph ...bike shuts off. Restarts easily without choke, rode home. Next day bike hard to start. Started...went one half mile...bike shut off. I pushed it home. Took to dealer..they replaced the stator. At around 2000 miles on the dream machine the bike shuts off. Starts... runs around 70 miles ...shuts off again. Taken to dealer...dealer replaces CDI unit. Dealer says they did a complete electrical exam. Bike good to go. At around 3100 miles on the Suzuki on the freeway going 70 miles per hour...bike shuts off. Taken to dealer...I called Suzuki and sent them a certified letter explaning my situation. I mentioned possible lemon lawsuit. Dealer tried starting it while writing up work order..didnt start. One week later dealer called said bike runs great...no issues found. Said bike purrs like kitten. any comments on what could have caused my DRZ400S to shut itself off? I have a funny feeling santa elves ...maybe fixed my bike again. Iam also sure unless they finally found a solution it will fail again. Bike is 100% stock and I start it everyday and it sleeps inside at night. Never ever needed the choke to start. Never been off road. Never laid it down (knock on wood) I use different fuel stations all the time. I use 92 octane fuel. Now that I have it back it doesnt fire up as efficient as it did when it was running. Any comments. Maybe a ground fault somewhere but wait the dealer said they went over the electrical %100

I'm having a similar problem
Were you ever able to find the issue.
I am having a similar problem with my 2003 DL 1000, but only when it goes into 6th gear on Hwy riding. Gearing down it will shut off.

Hi Csenior,
Welcome to the HUBB,
It would be a good idea to start a new thread under 'Suzuki Tech' and include all relevant info such as year and mileage on bike, what other work has been done on the bike, what have you checked already and is definitely working etc etc, the more info you can give us the better the answers we can give you.
adding the problem on another thread about DRZ400 problems you may not get so many replies about a DL1000, hope that helps!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
