I sold my Ts185 about 8 years ago so I'm not sure about parts. I didn't need many parts when I had it. I always carried an extra spark plug as it tended to foul the plug. Make sure you keep the 2 stroke oil topped up and that's about it. If you can still get parts in New Zealand then in the worst case scenario you can ship them in from there. Good luck

Hi Nigel and garrydymond.
Nice to hear that the TS185 will be the preferential candidate for your ride Nigel, I have always loved the TS185ER zippy look and its extra power (about 17.5 horsepower) as you mentioned, and as you said about the fuel tank it can be replaced by a larger one but not immediately, maybe after I can arrange for long distance trips, You have decreased my fears about the spare parts, and this was very encouraging to ease my choice, garrydymond also gives the feeling that there are no serious problems that face him during his 4 years of using this bike (TS185), so I think that the TS185 will be my choice.

Hi Iat
Sorry I am a bit late replying to your questions but the guys seem to of given you a direction.
Just to clear up the Tf 125 travelling thing. Its not that they are better than another small bike but just happen to fitted our needs at the time and were available. The idea was basically to force a slower speed upon us and give a better motorcycling experience using only the small roads that they are suited for. I used to enjoy racing two strokes and that is why I didn't choose a four stroke.
I think the 185 is more suited to you needs, particularly off road, the 125 is very slow. But you have come to that conclusion already.
There is one thing to think about tho with regards to cost. The petrol consumption of a two stroke and the need for oil make them probably twice as expensive in daily running costs, that is price per kilometer. A small four stroke engine would give far better petrol consumption and range with the trade off being less power and more expensive repairs if anything should go wrong.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
