Charging batteries on the road.. Especially 9v with car 12v adaptor.
Hey..
What do you guys do to charge batteries on the road ???
We need to charge AA, AAA and especially 9V batteries and mostly from a 12v car type socket.
I can find 12v adaptors for AA batteries but cant seem to find one that will do 9v
Can anyone help ????
Thanks

Ted, Do you mean the PP3 type with the two press on terminals? There are a few 12v chargers around that will take AA/AAA and PP3 but I only have a simpler AA only version having nothing in my kit that takes PP3. I always thought they were a bit fragile but that was based on my experience many years ago and things may have changed.

maha make a variety of chargers that have car cigarette lighter adapters with them. I have one that does AA & AAA, you then just change the plug if needed on the 12v cord. I'm sure you should be able to find one that does 9v too.
Just checked the maha site and they do a PP3 battery charger that will run off 12v Maha C490F 4-Way Battery Charger from mahaenergy.co.uk
and I have this one for AA & AAA which came with a 12v cord Maha C401FS Fast Charger from mahaenergy.co.uk
Not one single charger but they're small and I expect they use the same power cable.

Hey Ted, great question, I'm very interested in this myself. :P
@ mr_magicfingers thanks for the links.
However, I'm wondering if a PP3 adaptor like this: Regulated Car Power Adaptor : InCar Power Adaptors : Maplin with a PP3 socket would charge the battery, or is it more complicated than that? Anyone know?

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
