DR650 new tank install problem
Maybe someone can give me a clue as the reason for my problem.
I have replaced the standard tank with a 20l Acerbis.
I followed everyone's procedure... i.e. I folded and tied the vacuum hose (in two places),
I installed an inline fuel filter and I can prove plenty of fuel coming through.
I check the small basket filter in the carb inlet and it was clean so I put it back.
The bike runs as usual until I try to accelerate. It behaves as if it's starved of fuel.
I can drive in a 'traffic sedate' manner and not notice anything. But when I try to accelerate a little faster, it stutters until I back off.
If I just accelerate slowly I can still go as fast as I want and at top speed, it still runs smoothly.
But when I ask for some power to get up a hill, it runs rough until I back it off or it gets to the speed I want, then it runs smooth again.
Any ideas? Is it because I have not folded the vacuum hose close enough to the carb?
I'm pretty sure it's not because it's running rich - no backfires - it's as if I am running out of petrol.

Hmm, silly me. Took the seat off and noticed my Airhawk sea elastic strap lying across and sucked into the air intake as a perfect fit across the shape of the intake opening. Took the strap off and problem solved. Phew...

Hi ilse,
Welcome to the HUBB
can you be more specific with your problem, what have you changed and what are the symptoms on your DR? is fuel getting to the carb inlet?
