How to repair Acerbis tank?

Hi, i bought a second hand Acerbis 23L tank for my XT600E from a fellow Hubber a number of months ago. I have just got round to fitting it and have dicovered a small pin hole leak. Anybody know how to mend this? i am leaving for 2 months on the 12th June. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Stuff called "Petseal Plus". Its a liquid liner, designed for plastic tanks.

It should be weldable. Is there anywhere on the tank where you could shave off a little strip of plastic ? Clean the area of the hole then weld it with a soldering iron; use an electric one not a gas one obviously.

Melt the hole then use your shaved off strip as a filler rod. You can build up a bit of a patch if you let it cool then have another go. Have a practice on something like an old mudguard or even a tupperware type container to perfect you technique.

There are companies that use this method on car bumpers and bike plastics but if you aren't worried about an invisable repair, you should get be able to get a reasonable result yourself.

Once you've done, have a pretty good pick at the repair with something sharp to check that you got a good bond. Don't get the plastic too hot or you will change it's characteristics; it will go brittle. If you can't produce your filler rod from the tank, you'll have to find some similar plastic.

Good luck
