I once rode a BMW outfit from Rome to Leeds via Hamburg three up with only the front brake working!
What's up with yours? In my case it was the pads that crumbled. In a final, one off, real emergency stop, the backing material would have done something, but in terms of stopping 3/4 of a tonne it wasn't a huge factor (I know, I tried it on my last 250 yds going 35-0!). Keep the speed low, think about your stopping distances and you can ride miles without even touching the brakes.
The one you can't do without two working brakes is mud, snow or certain methods of holding a solo bike on a slope.
Good luck and if in doubt wait for parts to catch up, but I wouldn't let it ruin your day without trying to go on.
