BMW R1200 Modifications
Hello Everyone,
So you finally bought your BMW GS and or GSA... as I did.
Now, I am looking to add some extras to it and make some modifications.
I am wondering what add-ons you have added and what modifications you have made to make your bike right for you?
Also, after making your changes, what would you have done differently or what did you end up doing to make the best choices for your bike and your riding style?
Thank You,
Eric

Hi Eric,
Firstly, when I got my GS, I just rode it. I quickly found that the screen needed adjustment. I found about midway through its range was ok for me to reduce the buffetting.
Then I wanted satnav. I purchased a TT crossbar to go over the cockpit, a tt mount and a 2610. I powered it directly from using the nav3 power supply that plugged directly into the can bus so no need for splicing and dicing.
Then I found my horn was crap. This got upgraded to a steibel horn. Much better.
I needed some panniers, so bought the TT aluminium cases.
I also bought the bmw alarm. Easy to fit.
Finally, I took the bike to Wales and did the enduro course. I then came home, ditched the tyres, put on tkc's, adjusted the gear lever and added a wunderlich brake extender for the rear. I also fiddled with the suspension a lot more.
And that was it.
If I hadn't already got callouses on my arse by this time, I would have bought a sheepskin cover to go on the seat, possibly an airhawk also.
I would've loved to get some brighter bulbs on the bike too, without going for HIDS or auxilliary lights.

Hi Eric,
Welcome, to be honest I think your pannier choice is
totally wrong ( from foto's )
I visited Caja Sahel workshop a few days ago
with a fellow RTW traveller and was blown away by their
craftmanship and understanding of overland travel.
I do not type these words lightly...
havin used other supposed "adventure panniers"
in the past, what i seen and witnessed at cajashel.com
workshop, made me believe that cajasahel custom made for
MY adventure is the way to go...not run of the mill.
Thank you cajasahel I look forward to using cajasahel
regards
joe
