Buying a bike in London

Hi all,
We need to buy a bike in London for a 3mth trip through Europe starting in April 2010. I realize you can't give out dealers info on this forum but if someone in London works for a bike shop or can reccommend someone they trust can you drop me a line at my work email. I'm looking for a Suzuki DL1000 2007 onwards with Side Panniers & Top Box & need to sell it back after the trip. I work for a large Suzuki dealer in Perth, Western Australia so I now these bikes well, but I would look at other similar bikes.
Cheers
Rusty

Huge City, not easy to navigate. London is expensive and not many bikes or bike shops snuggled together. You'll spend a lot of time on the Tube. I had better luck basing out of Oxford. Lots more bike shops nearby.

But getting on line and shopping before you go is the best way to go. Find a trustworthy shop and try to make a deal before you arrive. Have them set the bike up to your spec, fly in and ride away.

I spent about $700 hanging in London and traveling all over UK looking for a bike. Would have been better off just trusting a dealer, making a deposit on line, show up, load the bike and go. London is expensive. If you have friends to hang out with, good. But I would find the bike before you get there.

Great choice of bike, BTW. The Brits have no clue just how good the Vstrom is. Best value in the world today for long range traveler.

safe riding!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
